I have always been curious about food. As a child, I was never a fussy eater and we lived next door to an elderly couple with an incredible vegetable garden to explore. From apple cucumbers and lettuces to beans and cherry tomatoes, we even ‘shared’ their avocado tree that would hang on our side of the fence.

It was my husband’s love for travelling and my growing interest to experience food from other cultures that led to the start of my blog in 2011. Keen to embark a career in food and travel writing, I set out to share our culinary indulgences and experiences from around the world. Based in Sydney’s inner west, I am always excited to share our experiences, whether that be at the nearby farmers’ markets, an interstate food festival or our visits to regional areas to discover local producers and sample many seasonal delicacies.

As a self-taught cook, I draw inspiration from the growing collection on my bookshelf which prides itself with titles by Stephanie Alexander, Kylie Kwong, Nigella Lawson, Rose Gray and Julia Child. Regardless of their weight or language, I am notorious for buying too many culinary books overseas and continue to do so to further my knowledge through the wisdom of others.

My childhood love for baking with my grandmother has led me to compete in the Sydney Royal Easter Show competition and placing twice for my banana cake recipe.

It is through these experiences that I hope I can continue to write and share about what consumes and inspires me the most in life, food and travel.
